Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) has appealed to the people and students' community in particular to extend co-operation and support in bringing out the text books under Common Syllabus for class VI to VIII in time for commencement of the academic session, 2005.In a statement made available to the press, BSEM secretary Rajkumari Radhesana Devi said that Board has been putting extra efforts and working day and night to bring out the text books in time inspite of all odds.
Implementing the order of the Govt for introducing common text books under Common Syllabus in all the Govt schools both in the hills and valley, the Board took up the task of preparing the syllabus and selection of teachers to write the books since June, 2004.However, due to social unrest in the wake of public demand for removal of AFSPA, irregular power supply, limited number of press available in Manipur for printing the books and financial constraints, the Board encounter numerous problems in bringing out the text books for class VI to VIII, the statement said.
Despite all these problems, the Board has started bringing out the text books one after another by putting extra efforts and working day and night, BSEM secretary stated, while appealing to the people understand the problems of the Board if there is some delay in bringing out certain text books on account of the above stated reasons.
Cabinet decision flayed: The decision of the State Cabinet to downgrade Azad Hr Sec School, Yairipok as High School has been strongly objected during a joint meeting of local clubs, organisations and educationists at Yairipok Junior High School today.
Representatives of AMSU Yairipok Branch, DESAM, All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation and United Muslim Organisation, Yairipok were also present at the meeting convened by All Yairipok United Clubs' Organisation was attended.
The meeting strongly denounced inclusion of Azad Higher Secondary School among the 15 Higher Secondary schools to be downgrade as part of the teachers rationalisation process as the School is the only Hr Sec School for the people of living in five Assembly Constituencies of Yairipok.
