Imphal, March 23:
Vehemently condemning misconduct of IRB personnel against womenfolk of Maphou Dam area Kanglei Apunba Ima Yaipha lup asserted that chief Minister Okram ibobi Singh as the Home Minister should owe moral responsibility for inability to check frequent sexual harassment cases involving men in uniform.
With recent incidents like the alleged mass rape in interior area of Churachandpur district, Manorama's death and molestation of M Naobi Chanu yet to be solved involvement of security personnel in the Maphou Dam case could be aptly described as lenient approach against guilty personnel emboldening securitymen to continue such gross violation of human rights, said the Lup.
Suggesting that suspension could not reign in recalcitrant security personnel, the women body prescribed termination of the accused personnel from service as most appropriate to teach a fitting lesson to antisocial elements.
The Lup called upon abductors to release police SI N kumar at the earliest on humane ground and provide opportunity to the individual to mend his misconduct, if any.
Failure to release of the captive within March 28 would constrain the Lup to garner support from other organisations and launch various forms of agitation, it cautioned.
