Imphal, March 23: Even as a massive combing operation was conducted for five hours at Langol hills, a person was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Sagolband Sayang today.

At around 7 am, one MR Meitei (37) was shot dead at his own home at Sagolband Sayang under Imphal West police station.

It is reported that the victim was serving as a Headmaster in charge of Tera Amudon LP School.

According to information received from police, three empty cases of 9 mm have been recovered from the spot and the police have registered a case in connection with the incident.

Even though MR was rushed to Shija hospital immediately after he was hit by three bullets at his chest, he failed to respond to all medical treatment and succumbed to his injuries at Shija hospital.

It is reported that the body has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS.

Meanwhile, taking serious note of the killing of MR, the family members, local club and Meira Paibis have appealed to all concerned to clarify on the incident.

Following the incident, several resolutions were adopted during a meeting organised by the Kuraomakhong United Club of Sagolband Sayang and the local Meira Paibis.

The resolutions include to urge all concerned to clarify on the killing of MR, to appeal to all concerned not to repeat such incidents in future etc.

On the other hand, a massive combing operation was launched at Langol hills in connection with the abduction of SI N Kumar.

Today's operation was launched following reports of some captives led towards Langol hills by unidentified gunmen, disclosed an official source.

The operation launched under Additional SP of Imphal West Th Radheshyam was assisted by 12 commando teams of Imphal West District police in addition to another eight commando teams belonging to Imphal East District police.
