Imphal, October 19: Lifting of rice from FCS godown for distribution among the people has been stopped following threat from an unidentified armed person who came to the godown today.

According to information received by the press, as an underground organisation had imposed restriction on lifting the rice quota for the month of July, the allotment for the month of July and August were issued in August itself.

The agents and the Government nominees who have deposited their money were trying to transport their respective rice quota this morning when an unidentified person came and threatened them and the store keeper against lifting the rice from the godown.

It may be noted here that the rice quotas for the hill districts had been already lifted from the down through the respective Deputy Commissioners.

The rice quota which was to be lifted today is meant for the valley districts.
