As in other parts of Manipur, the blessing of goddess Imoinu was sought for abundance and prosperity at the Imoinu temple of Moreh yesterday.
The prayer function held with religious rituals was jointly organised by the Moreh Meitei Lai Thougal Kanglup and Imoinu Thougal Kanglup Moreh.
It also a featured a religious procession.
The prayer function was organised with a view to promote indigenous culture and tradition of Meitei in addition to invoking the blessing of goddess Imoinu for peace and progress.
Before the formal prayer function started at night, the idol of goddess Imoinu was taken to Meitei localities of Moreh amidst a procession led by Maibas and Maibis and complete with a band party.
Later, cultural dances and Thang-Ta show presented by KIMACS, Leikai Lamtai Yek Salai Luptin and College of Music and Performing Arts added flavour to the Imoinu day celebration.
Noted narrator (Wari Leeba) Chana Lukhoi stole limelight of the religious function with his soulful and animated narration of the mythology of godess Imoinu.
The All Loktak Kanba Lup Thanga offered 160 kgs of fish to godess Imoinu.
