Districts Mini Sports Complexes to be completed by 2014: CM

For the first time, a two-day friendly football exhibition match for the tribals of Manipur has kicked off from today at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium here.
The event is being organised by Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) under the theme, 'Sports for building peace and unity' .
Speaking at the inauguration of the friendly football exhibition march as Chief Guest, Chief Minister O.Ibobi Singh said that his government has taken steps to improve the sports infrastructure in all the Hill Districts of the State and assured that construction of District Sports Complexes in all the five Hill Districts is targeted to be completed by 2014 .
The construction of these sports complexes has been taken up under SPA funding and Central Assistance from the Ministry of DoNER under NLCPR with a view to provide sports infrastructure in the hill districts, the Chief Minister said, adding that his government has also allotted land for establishment of Mary Kom Boxing Academy which is expected to be set-up with assistance from NEC.
The Chief Minister appealed to all specially the youngsters to inculcate the sense of well being, self-respect, sound health and mind, good character and good moral and called upon the youths who are energetic pillars of tomorrow to come forward and develop themselves with the help of games and sports.
He also stressed on the need to be united in order to bring more laurels like Mary Kom who has brought the State of Manipur into limelight and made the country proud.
The Chief Minister observed that holding such Friendly Football Exhibition matches will be a step to acquaint each other and pave the way for enhancing understanding, trust and love for each other.
"Let there be more and more interactions among us in different walks of our lives to bind us stronger to make Manipur a strong State as we all love Manipur the most", the Chief Minister exhorted.
RD & PR Minister Francis Ngajokpa, who presided over the inaugural function, also underlined the importance of organizing such friendly exhibition matches to bring peace and unity in the state.
Ex-Chief Minister and present Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing, who was also present on the occasion as one of the Guests of Honour, spoke on the need for bringing peace and unity through love and trust amongst all the communities living in the state.
Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries Md.Abdul Nasir also attended the function as a Guest of Honour.
Altogether 30 teams are participating in the 2-day exhibition match.
The first match played between Tribal MLAs XI and Tribal ADC XI.
Tribal MLAs XI defeated Tribal ADC XI by 2-1 goals.
In the second match, AMCO defeated MPCC by 1-0 goals.
The third match was played between MHJU and KBC in which the former defeated the latter by 2-0 goals.
In the fourth match, Chandel Brothers defeated Chiru Students' Union by 1-0 goals, while in the fifth and last match of the day, MUTSU defeated IGNTU by 2-0 goals.
