Imphal, October 29 2013:
Decrying erratic salary-norm and non absorption for over 10 years, All Manipur Government College Guest Lecturers' Association has demanded that Government of Manipur expedite process for regularisation of their service.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club today, Association general secretary H Devjit Singh said nearly 500 guest and part time lecturers have been serving the student community for over a decade inspite of the fact that monthly entitlements are never released on time.
With about 380 part-time lecturers in category A and 41 in B category along with 42 guest lecturers these teaching faculties had been serving in various higher educational institutions and most often find themselves in embarrassing situation as they could not justify being Government servants for their salaries are normally held up for seven or eight months.
Owing to erratic release of salary these lecturers face many hurdles in meeting family expenses, conceded Devjit who also opined that there should no further delay in the service regularisation process as the State Cabinet had already approved implementation of the Central-sponsored Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) in the State.
