MEELAL bans JNV entrance exam

Citing that some students opting Meitei Mayek (MM) as one of the subjects were not allowed to take forms for the Class VI entrance exam of Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya, Meetei Eyek Erol Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has banned the said exam.
Informing this to news persons at its office here today, MEELAL Luching Purel, Sadokpam Tomba Mangang said that the said forms were seized from Zonal Education Offices of Imphal East and Imphal West and later burned by MEELAL volunteers today.
Further availability of the forms and its submission is also banned until and unless Meitei Mayek is included as a subject in the said entrance exam, he said adding that Navodaya and Central schools in the State have been informed to use MM as a subject since three years back.
Questioning that whether the students should go for Bengali script tuitions afresh, Mangang went on to say that the decision to ban the exam was taken after parents and principals of some schools approached MEELAL regarding the issue saying that MM is not included in the said exam and Bengali script was used in the questions.
He also warned schools for dire consequences if the entrance exam in question is being allowed to conduct at their premises.
He further all concerned to attend a three-day seminar on inclusion of 'lonyan' to be held at GM Hall from December 20-22 .
