Imphal, October 07 2010:
Referring to a news item that appeared in the local dailies on October 6, that an oil tanker (MN-03-0271) was set ablaze in Nagaland, the SP Kohima has clarified that the oil tanker was supposed to be carrying 12,000 litres when it departed for Manipur but it was found that only 4000 litres were remaining on verification after the fire was put out.
A close examination of the driver, Ranjit Gathana s/o Dil Bahadur of Erang Part II of Imphal district revealed that he lit the fire deliberately to burn the truck in order to destroy the evidences of pilferage of the fuel.
