Ukhrul, October 07 2010:
The 3-day-long Gospel Seminar cum Crusade on "conflict resolution" organized by Ukhrul Peace Forum kicked-off today at Hungphun Baptist Church (HBC), the host Church.
A number of participants representating many other churches, and individuals from the localities in and around Ukhrul took part in the seminar.
The theme of the first session was, "Conflict Resolution" wherein the resolution would lie in a "two-way-communication process".
The main resource person was Rev.Patrick M.Brown, a senior pastor from the United States of America who quoted Isiah 1:18 which says,"come now, let us reason together".
He shared that at any conflict problem may it be within family, friends, society, organization or within people living together, the resolution sometimes depend on mediators called "peacemakers".
He said "Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the sons of God" and to become a peacemaker he said at one must first have peace with God, next, to make sure the content of peace reside within the people, and finally to make peace with other people and gently call for reconciliation.
The resource person highlighted the presentation with symbols of how the peacemakers must stand on the slippery mountain top of the conflict situation midway between the attack responses and escape responses.
The first session was led and interpreted by Rev Zaklei Kaping.
The main moderators in the three-day conference are Rev Candid Sareo, Rev Shimreingam L Shimray and Rev Zaklei Kaping.
