Imphal, October 07 2010:
People today offered rich floral tributes to the martyrs of the June 18 uprising at Kekrupat on the last day of month long Langban Tarpon Katpa (tribute to forefathers).
The UCM organized the event.
Hundreds of people including family, relatives and well-wishers offered tributes to the 18 persons who died in the June 18 uprising against the extension of ceasefire agreement between GoI and NSCN (IM) without territorial limit.
The converging people, in the meantime, expressed dissatisfaction on observing the neglected condition of Kekrupat.
The place seemed to be left uncared for since the UCM shifted its office.
Speaking on the sideline, former UCM president, Sapamcha Jadumani observed that the place is like a jungle with no one to take care of.
They detected missing iron bars meant for constructions.
"I was amazed to find iron bars weighing around 40 kg to be missing.
. When, UCM ran its office at the place, their volunteers used to check immoral activities in the surrounding areas but since they left the place, there have been signs of increasing unwarranted activities in the site.
