Imphal, October 07 2010:
Another job portal for the North East people have been launched in Imphal today.
The job portal www.nejobs.in was launched by Manipur Education minister L.Jayentakumar at Manipur Press Club.
Mention may be made that a Guwahati based job portal www.sakori.org started in June this year, was launched which is a non-profit website which lists job information for the Northeast.
That job listings are aggregated from various sources including company websites, job sites, local newspapers, etc.
Speaking during the launching programme, the Manipur Education Minister said that it is a boon for the job seekers of Manipur to have such portals.
Jayentakumar said that the existence of job portals means the corrupt activities will be minimise as jon seekers will have the full knowledge of the available jobs in any set up.
"The most successful man in the world is the man who gets the best and latest information, and the best and latest information is provided by Information Technology Industries," said Jayentakumar.
"All round development completely lies in the development of Human Resource, and to develop HR, we have to develop IT sector because IT provides latest and vast information in the world today," he added.
Meanwhile, the administration of the www.nejobs.in said that the launching of the portal will bridge the gap through online registration between job seekers living in the Northeast India region and prospective employers worldwide which eventually will lead to employment.
"We dedicate this job channel to the people of North East India on this day," said the portal administration.
The need for a Northeast-specific job website was long felt.
Many websites from the region has a job section, but they are seldom updated and do not have exhaustive information.
A job website entirely catering to northeasterners was never a reality.
Regarding the Guwahati based portal, Buljit Buragohain of the www.sakori.org from IIT Guwahati had said earlier, "We are planning to form a network of colleges in the Northeast and provide them career and job related content for their wall magazines and notice boards.
Xomidhan.org, another voluntary group of elite individuals with more than 100 career counsellors, is partnering us in this initiative.
In collaboration with xomidhan.org, we are also planning to start a resume building service, which will help people to frame their resumes to the suitability of the recruiters.
These are in their conceptualization stages and we would require support from the public in carrying them out" .
Sakori.org is also on social media networks through Facebook Social Plugins and Google Friend Connect.
Sakori.org's Facebook fan page currently has more than 100 fans while more than 100 people are connected through Google Friend Connect.
Social media is playing a major role in awareness and collaboration and sakori.org has fully featured social plugins to facilitate all of that.
