Imphal, December 28 2008:
Eight trucks loaded with illegal timber and moving from Manipur to Nagaland was intercepted and around 13,161 square feet of timber worth more than Rs 30 lakhs recovered by troops of 57 Mountain Division at around 10 pm of December 22, informed a PIB (DW) statement issued today.
Conveying that multiple mobile vehicle check posts were established following specific information regarding transportation of the timber loads, the statement said the trucks were intercepted at Maram area.
The trucks alongwith the seized timbers were handed over to forest Officer of Maram beat Mr Peter on December 23 morning, it added.
