President of Centre for Development of Art and Culture of Manipur, LC Mirabanta has today called for the proper documentation of the art and culture of Manipur.
Delivering the key note address at the one day convention held under the theme of Dynamic Perspective of Manipur at Kangla Hall today, LC Mirabanta said that the conference is being held as part of the efforts of the Centre for Development of Art and Culture to document the art and culture of Manipur.
Stressing on the importance of documenting the rich art and culture of Manipur, Mirabanta said that not much importance is placed on documenting the works of experts in the field of Manipur's art and culture such as dance, songs, Thang-Ta etc.
He called for the co-operation of all concerned to document the rich culture of the land.
Member of Kangla Fort Board, N Khelchandra who attended the convention as the chief guest said that the wealth and assets of culture cannot be exhausted.
There is the need to conduct a through research to tap the wealth of our culture, said Khelchandra and called upon the younger generation to take up the responsibility.
Khelchandra also assured all possible help in research works taken up in connection with art and culture, its documentation etc.
Addressing the gathering as the president of the convention, Pradhan Guru of JNMDA Thouranishabi Devi said that it is incumbent on the part of the youths to protect and develop the culture of the land.
The veteran artiste also lamented over the lack of moral values of the youngsters.
Naba Wareppa also spoke at the occasion.
