CONVENER OF the National Alliance of People's Movement, a Lakhanou base human rights protection group Dr Sandeep Pandey taking part in the 19th day of relay-hunger strike of the Sharmila Kunba Lup at Porompat PDA complex today condemned the state government silent attitude towards the demand of the Sharmila.
Today, nn the 19th day of the hunger strike, women volunteers of the Young Horizon, Manipur, Lairikyengbam Leikai Nupi Samaj Cohukhat Lup and Human Development Organisation, Lairikyengbam Leikai staged the hunger strike.
Speaking on the occasion, Sandeep Pandey expressed dissatisfaction on the responsible leaders of the state remaining silent even though the Sharmila's fasting had passed eight years demanding AFSPA terming it as an unfortunate thing on the part of the people of the state.
"It would be better of the state to set a deadline to repeal it even though they don't want to repeal it today," he cautioned the state leaders.
He also said that the insurgency in the state could not be solved by the imposition of draconian laws.
It should be sloved through political dialogue, he said.
If the government try to rule by force, obviously, it is sure to raise up by the people against it and if the people raise up then government should at least take some responsible, he said.
As a part of the support to the relay-hunger strike, executive director of the Human Rights Initiative LC Jinien and professor Rose Mansi also talked in support of the currently undergoing stir.
