Imphal, July 05 2009:
A large amount of contraband drug, Actifed tablets and 2.3 kgs of pangolin shells were seized by troops of 42 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) while conducting a check on vehicles at permanent vehicle check post at Bongyang on July 3, an AR statement issued by PRO, IGAR (S) stated.
It stated that 9990 Actifed tablets were recovered from civil bus Regd No.MN 01 1394 and 2.3 Kgs of Pangolin shells from a TATA Sumo.
The apprehendees were identified as Md Imran Khan, (28) son of Md Seherudin, a resident of Kairang Awang Lekai, Imphal West and Hichang, (42) wife of Suan Lal, of Paicham Veng, Ward No.3, Moreh.
Both apprehendees along with the recovered items have been handed over to Tengnoupal Police station and Forest Office, Pallel respectively on July 3, the statement added.
