To make a final assessment of the infrastructure available at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and accordingly submit their recommendation whether the medical institution can commence its session this year or not, a team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) arrived at Imphal today.
MCI Inspectors Dr SB Ganguly and Dr C Biswas arrived at today.
They would be joined by Dr Manti Mehra tomorrow, conveyed an official source.
The team would be staying at Imphal for three days to make a detailed assessment of the infrastructure available at JNIMS and other infrastructure being built.
The team would be furnishing their assessment report to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to decide on whether the JNIMS would be given permission to commence its first session this year or not.
In their earlier inspection visit to the State, the MCI team suggested that Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry departments be made functional from the opening stage, should JNIMS commence its session this year.
Subsequently, the State Government had procured necessary equipment for the three departments.
Moreover, process for recruitment of faculty members has been initiated.
Meanwhile, a notification issued by GAD has declared the visiting MCI team as State guests.
