Huge cache of arms seized in Assam

Guwahati, January 17 2009:
IN A major haul of arms in recent times, Assam Police today seized 27 AK-56 rifles and a huge quantity of ammunition in upper Assam 's Tinsukia district.
Police said that the arms and ammunition were recovered during a raid in the two districts of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the arms and ammunition belongs to the ULFA.
Police said that the rifles and ammunition were hidden inside a rice granary and added that search is on to trace the militants involved in the arms trade.
No one was, however, arrested so far.
