WITH THE possibility of coming up the Lok Shabha shortly in April this year, Manipur People Party and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee have also started is political exercise with the first round of discussion on sending out its candidates in the two seats from Manipur.
A preliminary round discussion of the core committee of the party was held today at its office at Statehood Square and discussed on the matter of choosing of most qualified candidates for sending out to contest the election.
Other rounds of meeting will be held soon, source from the MPP office said.
When asked with regard to the BJP's projecting former chief minister W Nipachamacha as candidate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the inner-Manipur Parliamentary Constituency, MLA RK Anand of the MPP simply said that its part of BJP's commencement of political exercise.
Mention may be made that BJP has earlier hinted of regional parties in the state like the MPP to go together with NDA in the forthcoming Lok Shabha election.
There was a report on the national leaders of BJP meeting with the MPP in the recent time.
But from sources from the MPP, it is said that so far no final decision regarding the matter is yet to taken on the party side.
The matter of going together in the election may come up when the electioneering of the party starts, it said.
MPP's nine-member core committee meeting held under the chair of its president Dr L Chandramani discussed thoroughly on the what role could be take by MPP as regional party in the forthcoming election, the source said.
The MPCC also started political exercise for the forthcoming Lok Shabha election.
However, sources indicate of having no possibility of Congress going together with CPI, the ruling partners of the SPF government in the state.
