A group of students from Manipur's Churachandpur district who never venture out beyond the state's boundary were given the opportunity to see the lifestyle of outside world particularly people living in eastern India including Kolkata and Guwahati under a military civic action programme of Red Shield Division.
Twenty six students excluding two teachers-Joseph VC Baite of Don Bosco and Mary Haokip of HM English school both from Churachandpur district who went out of state for the tour under the sponsorship of 27 sector Assam Rifles since January 6 last returned back here at Leimakhong army headquarter on Saturday morning.
Major General Shakti Gurung,GOC 57 Mountain Division and other top ranking officers of the division rendered a warm welcome during the return of the excursion team of the students and teachers in a simple function organized at their division office premises.
Most of the students were seen happy after visiting others parts of the country and interact various walks of life besides seeing a number of memorable tourist places during the course of their excursion.
According to a statement of the Army,this was the first time that these students had moved out of Manipur and could explore the rich cultural heritage of the country.Mention may be made here that in the recent past too a group of students from BIshnupur district were also taken for an excursion under the sponsorship of 57th Mountain division.
