Encourage by the overwhelming public response and feedback it receives from the last year's event, United Kennel Club, Manipur is all set for 2nd All Breed Championship Dog Show, 2005 with a missionary zeal.
The championship would be held from February 12 to 13 at the Mela Ground of Mapal Kangjeibung here and would ensure that the standard of the competition at par with those held at National and International level, said organising committee members during a press conference held at New Checkon this evening.
Elaborating on the objectives of organising the dog show, organising secretary K Ranjit and advisor Dr Shantikumar said the event does not just aim at spreading awareness among the dog lovers on the kind of training and dietary requirement of 'the men's best friends' but also to act as a string board and enable participation at National and International level.
Giving a detailed account on the modalities of selection and the nature of the competition, executive member Dr Maibam Romi informed that there would be broadly two types of competition, namely Obedience Show and All Breed Championship.
In All Breed Championship, the contest would be categorised as Minor Puppy, Puppy, Junior, Intermediate and Open and one best would be selected from among the 20 finalists, for which there would be special prize donated in the name of late SI Koijam Ashinikumar, who himself was a great dog lover.
Besides there would be in all 160 trophies including citations, etc that could be won during the competition.
Unlike last year, Dr Romi further said, all the participating dogs would be examined closely beforehand and a panel of juries from United Kennel Club of India would do the judging.
On financial involvement in organising the event, Dr Satyendra disclosed that four companies namely US based Pedigree, Netherlands based Interved, Guwahati based Marketing Associates and Mumbai based Excel have given green signal for sponsoring this year's dog show.
