Imphal, January 28:
Amidst report of deferring the proposed SPF Ministry reshuffle a high level coordinating committee of the Congress party has been constituted to stabilise relationship between the Congress led SPF Government and the party organisation.
A senior member of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) informed of the AICC high command insisting on deferment of the ministry reshuffle, earlier slated for February, till the MPCC election is over.
Interacting with this reporter, the senior CLP member said due to unfavourable relationship between the Government and the party organisation the MPCC's image had been dented and unrestrained continuation of the trend will weaken the Congress organisation for which the coordinating committee had to be set up.
The committee constituted in consonance with the AICC President Sonia Gandhi's advice will have MPCC president and Chief Minister O Ibobi singh as the chairman with the Central party's North East in-charge Ramesh Chenithala as the convenor.
Lok Sabha MP Dr T Meinya, Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing and MLAs N Biren, RK Theko, K Ranjit and Dr Chalton Lien Amo are the other committee members, informed the senior member.
He, however, expressed concern that inspite of formation of the committee no meeting has been convened till date as delay in discussion on thrashing out differences between the Congress spearheaded SPF Government and the majority party organisation would in no way stem deterioration in relationship.
On the proposed ministry reshuffle, he said when the ministry down-sizing was effected the Chief Minister had assured party MLAs of replacing Ministers whose performance were not upto the mark.
Even though the Chief Minister is keen on affecting the reshuffle and even began pursuing the process, the momentum had been momentarily halted on advice of Sonia Gandhi on grounds that ministry reshuffle before the Congress party election might create inconvenient situations and further complicate matters within the party set-up.
