The two day national seminar on 'Fishery, Aquatic Bio-resources and Sustainable Development' began from today at the lecture hall of Mathematical Science building of Manipur University.
Organised by Department of Life Sciences (MU) under the aegis of UGC - special Assistance programme (SAP) and Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Manipur, the inaugural session was held with IBSD Director Prof H Tombi Singh and Dean of School of Sciences Prof C Amuba Singh as the chief guest and president respectively.
In his address, Prof Tombi reflected on the importance of organising such seminar in the North East region in view of the rich potential of aquatic resources in the region to point out absence of specialization in technology and research in this field.
