Imphal, January 28:
More and more individuals residing along the sides of Imphal roads have obtained 'favourable orders' against any step of the Government to acquire their land for the proposed road widening plan.
The latest on the line is the January 19 order issued by Imphal Bench of the Court maintaining that the Government should follow due process of law while effecting any eviction drive in respect of a petitioner residing along Wangkhei road side.
The order followed a petition filed by an individual named H Mani of Wangkhei Thangjam Leikai in response to the Government notification dated December 17, 2004 for widening Imphal-Yairipok Road.
The petitioner contended that he is the legal owner of his land.
But the Government authorities had marked 15 feet at his five-storeyed building from the roadside for evicting the same.
