Imphal, January 28:
Asserting that not an inch of land belonging to the Kukis will be yielded for the formation of Greater Nagalim, the Kuki National Army today stated that the rebel groups who met Muivah and Swu recently were from the UKLF and KRA.
In a statement, KNA minced no word in dubbing the two outfits as traitors for siding with the NSCN (IM) which was responsible for the genocide which killed over 900 Kuki people in the 1990s.As such the UKLF and KRA can never be the representatives of the Kuki people, said KNA.
The outfit further said that the cease fire with the NSCN (IM) was called after it killed two KNA civil workers and TT Kuki, a leader of the KNA.
Following this, the UKLF and KRA assigned its cadres to kill Vipin Haokip, the commander of the KNA, said the statement and hailed Vipin as a martyr of the Kukis.
On the charge that Vipin was killed for not working against the Indian security force, KNA said that its political wing the Kuki National Organisation's aim is to work out a solution within the Indian Constitution.
Therefore not being anti-India or anti-Burma is not against the interest of the Kuki people, it argued and added that since the UKLF and the KRA have sided with the NSCN (IM), they have betrayed the Kuki people.
The aim of the KNO is that the Govts of India and Burma should recognise the Kuki's independent history prior to the advent of the British rule and which divided the land of the Kukis during the British days.
