Imphal, January 28:
Reacting to the announcement of Th Muivah at Hebron recently that the Meitei, Dimasa, and Kuki are welcome to live together with the Naga people, the Kuki Liberation Army has today come out with five questions addressed to the NSCN (IM) leader.
In a statement, KLA said that there are 40 recognised and unrecognised Kuki tribes in Manipur.
Which are the tribes that the IM group is welcoming to live with them, asked KLA.
The KLA further questioned why so many Kukis were massacred by the IM group during the ethnic cleansing drive taken up from 1993 to 1996.This is against the spirit of living together, it observed.
The outfit pointed out that it would be wrong to say that the Kukis have merged with the Naga just because some Old Kuki tribes in Chandel district have adopted the Naga nomenclature.
These tribes still cling on to the Kuki genetic culture and they still retain their name.
KLA also asked Muivah with what vision he views the Kuki people and urged him to answer sincerely.
The outfit also asked the IM group why it wants to break up Manipur, when the Kuki people and the Meiteis have voiced their desire to live together.
It also questioned whether the Nagas in Manipur have any genealogical connection with the Nagas of Nagaland or share a common dialect or custom.
