Imphal, June 23:
Presenting her side of the story in connection with the kidnapping drama of Jangvai Rengwin by his brother-in-law Jeny, Jenys wife and elder sister of Rengwin Sabina Varelly Jangvei has refuted the allegation of her husband that she fled away from his home with valuable household articles and cash.
Speaking to reporters at her parental home at Khamlakhurel village, Pallel, Sabina said that Jeny deceived and prevailed her to elope with him on October 7, last year.
However, as she came to learn that Jeny alias Jenio was already a married man with children, Sabina, just after three days of their elopement, requested Jeny to take her to her parental home.
At her request, Jeny weilded gun and threatened her besides keeping her in several houses one after another.
In addition to the refusal of Jenys parents to accept her as their daughter-in-law, Jeny never treated her as his own wife even as they have been living together as husband and wife for the last seven months.
Compelled by such harassment and ill-treatment, Sabina left for her parental home on June 16 after her parents were informed of her intention earlier, Sabina conveyed adding that Jeny never stopped threatening her and her family till date.
Flatly rejecting the allegation of Jeny that he gave Mangkat (bride price) as per Lamkang customary law while he took her as her wife, Sabina asserted that had he given Mangkat, all the village elders would have knowledge of it.
To a query, Sabina disclosed that she would never go back to her ex-husband as he is already a married and she has no intention to jeopardise the married life of his first wife.
