Imphal, June 23:
Saying that most of the advertisements being published in print and electronic media of the State for different educational courses like Air Hostess, Hotel Management, Medical, Engineering and other technical courses belong to non-recognised institutions based outside the State, the DESAM has noted that all these advertisements are made by non-recognised institutions through their agents and touts with the sole objective of earning huge amount of money while misleading and victimising unwitting students of the State.
A statement issued by the student body remarked that the current trend of taking girl students of Manipur in group to other States for admission in various courses like nursing, air hostess, hotel management etc in non-recognised and non-affiliated institutions is a serious crime.
Even if the girls want to leave their institutions, they are detained there through coercion and intimidation, it asserted.
Even if a few students studying outside can learn superior knowledge from their institutions, majority of the State students only imbibe loose moral character and the habit of substance abuse.
When they come back to Manipur, they further spread their ailments among the youths of the State, alleged DESAM.It further warned all concerned to stop publication of advertisements in Manipur for different courses in institutions based outside the State.
While calling upon the State Government to make serious study of the mass exodus of students to other States for their higher studies, DESAM appealed to the authority concerned to take up necessary legal actions against issuing advertisements for non-recognised institutions.
