With a strong commitment of fulfilling the wishes of his father, newly elected MLA of Khundrakpam AC Th Lokeshore has inspected the progress of the developmental schemes being taken up in his constituency.
This is the first time after being elected as the representative of the people that the young MLA took out a tour of his constituency to monitor the progress of the developmental schemes being taken up along with a commitment to fulfil the wishes of his late father, Thokchom Navakumar.
Accompanied by the AE and SO of Minor Irrigation Department, the MLA inspected the condition o the existing irrigation facilities in different parts of the constituency.
Visiting the site where a Pick Up Weir is proposed to be set up at Sinam Loukhong, the MLA expressed confidence that after the completion of this Pick-up Weir, it would be able to irrigate around 300 Paris of Paddy field in Sinam Haraorou, Yumnam Khunou and Sambei.
Before the construction of the Pick Up Weir, the Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation would also be approached for a temporary arrangement to irrigate the field before the next harvest, the MLA informed.
After his visit to Sinam Loukhong, the MLA went to inspect the construction work ongoing on for renovation of a sluice culvert at Yumnam Patlou Lembikhong Marin.
It is said that if the renovated sluice culvert functions properly, it would solve the problem of water scarcity in over 400/500 Paris of Paddy fields in places like Yumnam Patlou, Sagolmang, Ghewa and Pukhao Phurju.
After Yumnam Patlou, the MLA inspected that construction work of a small dam with shutter which is ongoing over the Khamenlok Stream at Lamboi.
This small dam is expected to irrigate around 50 Paris of paddy field in Lamboi Khul area.
Talking to mediapersons after the whirlwind tour, the young MLA said all the developmental works that he had inspected today are those which his late father had given commitment to the people.
While assuring that he would carry on with the welfare programmes initiated by his late father, the young MLA informed that he would be writing letter to the Chief Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Dept to ensure early completion of the works being taken up in his Constituency for the welfare of his people.
