Maj Gen DS Hooda, GOC 57 Mountain Division and Anil Chauhan, Commander of 59 Mountain Brigade today visited Tamenglong district and its sub-Divisions, and interacted with the public leaders and civil society organisations of Tamenglong.
In Tamenglong district HQs, the 11 Assam Rifles received the army officers at the helipad and met social leaders in the waiting room of the 11 AR.
During their short visit at Tamenglong, the army officers asked the locals if there were any problems in Tamenglong and said that the NSCN people need to follow the ground rules properly.
The NSCN people move around with their weapons, said the army officers.
To the contrary, the public leaders answered that the law makers were breaking the laws.
After half an hour interaction with the local people, the social leaders asked for more Military Civic Action (MCA) projects in Tamenglong to enhance the upliftment of the people living in Tamenglong.
The army officers assured them of taking up the projects, and told them to submit the requirements to the 11 AR posted in Tamenglong.
The main objective of the army officers today was to monitor the peaceful situation in Tamenglong and to seek feedback of the seminar on "Conflic Resolutions in Manipur" organized by the Red Shield Division (57 Mountain Division) that was held at Laimakhong.
Maj Gen DS Hooda and Anil Chauhan also visited Tamei HQs today.
While they were at Tamei, the social leaders urged the army officers to help all the contractors who are engaging in road construction in hill area of Manipur by providing sufficient security to protect from antisocial elements and from UG interference so as to complete their assigned works to be completed within the stipulated times given to them, adding that peace and development in hills may seen.
They also requested the army officers to provide solar streets lights and solar lamp to the villages which are not getting electricity.
At the end of the meeting at Tamei, Col KR Singh Commandant of 10th Dogra Regiment posted here at Tamei expressed profound gratitude to the social leaders of Tamei for giving full cooperation in meeting with the army officers.
On the other hand, in view of the 175th Raising Day of the Assam Rifles, Col PS Chhonkar, Commandant of 11 Assam Rifles posted here at Tamenglong under 9 Sector Assam Rifles today flagged of the National Integration Students Excursion to Delhi and Agra organized by the 11 AR Tamenglong.
Speaking at the flagged off programme held here at Tamenglong PS Chhonkar Commandant of 11 Battalion of Assam Rifles said that in view of the 175th Raising Day the 11 Bn of Assam Rifles have organized National Integration Students Excursion for students of Tamenglong.
"Generally the North east people are residing in remote area and very poor, no change to see other parts of country, this excursion will help you to meet others part of this country and seen the developments.
Come back with good memories and share the good things to families and friends", said PS Chhonkar.
PS Chhonkar further said that the excursion would help the youths of hills district in understanding the development in other parts of the country, know more about the ongoing development process and cultural of the other part of the country, added the excursion will also inspire the youths and develops the feeling of competition among the youths of Tamenglong.
