A seating of the Lok Adalat held today at the District and Session Judge, Manipur East ordered to pay a compensation amount of Rs 4.20 lakh in one of the cases related with knocking down to dead of a mother and her child.
In the Lok Adalat held under the initiative of the Manipur State Legal Service Authority with regard to claims related with vehicle accidents, New India Assurance Company Limited was order to compensate a total of Rs 43,4073 to the families of victims of the accidents.
Among them the order to pay a compensation amount of Rs 4.20 lakh to the family of a mother and child who died after knocked down by a truck three year back on January 28, 2007 was the highest amount.
The women identified as Sirijan Bibi wife of Abdul Malik and her son Md Abdul alias Bung of Lilong Ushoipokpi children were knocked down to dead near the Kakwa primary health centre on that day.
The adalat ordered the assurance company to pay the amount within three months of receiving of the order.
If not paid within the said date, the company will be imposed interest of the amount as fine, the order stated.
Hearing of 45 cases including 39 cases referred by the Motor Accident Claim Tribunal along with six other unlisted cases was conducted in today�s adalat and settled 43 cases with the court order to a pay the compensation amount of Rs 43,4,573. The remaining two cases were referred to the court as the adalat could not bring settlement between the two parties.
Judge of the family court Ph Surendra presided over the Lok Adalat in which advocate Ch Momon and advocate H Iboyaima were the members.
