The State Cabinet will meet tomorrow at 3 pm at the conference hall of the Chief Minister�s Secretariat under the chair of Chief Minister, O Ibobi, an official source said today.
The Cabinet will discuss the proposals of upgradation of Jessami High School to Higher Secondary level, reservation for Muslims and re-convening the 7th session of the state Assembly among other agenda, the source said.
The 7th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly which would be the budget session is likely to resume from March 8. A decision with regard to a proposal from the state Law and Legislative Affairs will be discussed at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.
The number of seatings of the assembly session will be decided at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly after the State Cabinet fixes the date.
It is pertinent to mention here that the State is proposing a plan size of Rs 3231.09 crore against the original approved outlay of Rs 2000 crore annual plan 2009-10 registering an increase of 59.94% to the Planning Commission of India.
The same is yet to be finalized and likely to finalise at a meeting of the working committee of the PCI scheduled to be held on March 15 and 16. The official level meeting on the state annual plan proposal was already held last month.Mention may be made here that the 7th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly has been adjourned sine die after two day seatings on January 13 and 14 last.
As the Governor has not prorogued the same, the State Law and Legislative Affairs has decided to resume the same.
The Cabinet will also discuss the upgradation of the Jessami High School to the Higher Secondary level, a proposal of the State Education (S) Department to fulfill the long cherished dream of the people of the villages bordering with Nagaland.
Villagers of Jessami and its adjoining areas have been pressing the State government to improve the education scenario of the villages.
Another agenda to be discussed at the meeting is the reservation of seats for Muslims in government appointments and technical studies as government nominees.
Muslim bodies have started a nationwide campaign in this regard in New Delhi recently.
In the state too, the Popular Front of India, Manipur unit organised a rally of the Muslim community at Kwakta in Bishnupur district today showing solidarity to the nationwide campaign with a large number of people participating.
Other agenda of the cabinet meeting include re-designation of the post of the Food Inspectors of the State Health Services as State Food Safety Officer and filling up of vacant posts and appointment of grade-IV posts of the state medical department by relaxing ban on the direct recruitment, and review of the stipends provided to the students of Sainik School, Imphal by the State government.
