With the stage for the first North East Mukna Festival all set at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound for kick-off tomorrow, players from three Northeastern States have arrived at Imphal.
Speaking to media persons at the office of All Manipur Mukna Association at Porompat today, MLA T Mangibabu said the regional level Mukna festival is being organised with a view to popularise indigenous sports of Manipur in international arena.
He exuded that the festival would provide an opportunity to expose the indigenous sports as well as the associated techniques to the outside world.
Players and officials of Nagaland, Mizoram and Assam have already arrived to participate in the festival which would continue till February 25.Players from some other Northeastern States may also be arriving, Mangibabu stated.
The opening function of the festival would be graced by the MLA, All Manipur Mukna Association president Dr M Nara and other MLAs.
Players coming from different States and Manipur players would compete in different weight categories.
Moreover, players from other States would be demonstrating their traditional styles of wrestling during the festival.
