The 46 Assam Rifles of 27 Sector under HQ IG AR (South) organised a nine day educational tour for the children of Churachandpur district in connection with the occasion of the 175th Raising Day of Assam Rifles, under the Military Civic Action program.
The PRO, HQ IG AR (South) informed through a press release that during the educational trip from February 21 to March 1, the children shall embark on a journey to Guwahati and Shillong and get an insight into different cultures and traditions with a view to enabling them to broaden their horizon and ignite their minds.
The PRO further informed that a total of 30 school children, 19 boys and 11 girls, in the age group of 13 to 15 years, of HM English School Churachandpur are participating in the event.
The tour shall provide the children an opportunity to visit places of historical interest, museums, zoological and recreation parks and also undertake adventure activities.
The Governor of Assam has also kindly consented to interact with the children at Raj Bhavan.
Brigadier Surendra Mehta, Commander, 27 Sector (AR) flagged off the educational tour at 9 am today at 46 AR.
This tour shall surely ignite the minds of the youths and strengthen the bond between the "Friends of the hill people" and the local populace, the press release stated.
