Occupancy Day was observed today at GM Hall to mark the remembrance of unfurling the Union Jack of British at Kangla on this day in 1891 after British defeated the then Manipur Kingdom.
The observance function organised by the Occupancy Observation Committee was graced by chairperson of the Manipur Social Welfare Advisory Board, RK Noyonsana as chief guest.
Advisor of the committee Dr M Kriti presided over the function in which secretary of SEDA, S Inaobi and advisor of the committee L Mangi attended as guests of honour.
Extending monetary assistance of Rs 1000 each to 19 widows whose husbands were killed in gun violence incidents with other essential items marked the occasion.
