Imphal, April 27 2010:
The Maring Students' Union (MSU) has expressed strong resentment over the haphazard manner in which the recruitment of Autonomous District Council primary teachers was conducted and its result declared a few days back.
A press release issued by Ch Moshun, president of MSU alleged that candidates who did not sit in the examination (absentees) were declared passed.
The MSU has enough evidence of it, the press release said.
It recalled that a team of representatives of MSU met the TD Minister, CEO, ADC Chandel and DC Chandel to highlight the unfair means used and discrepancies committed in the process of recruitment.
However, due to the apathy of the state government to the grievances/complaints raised by the MSU, bandh/agitation had been called from the midnight of December 15 to 18 last year.
The Minister had given assurance in the presence of Tengnoupal MLA Morung Makunga that the results would be declared after thorough investigation, the MSU president said.
He further demanded immediate clarification from the TD Minister, DD Thaisii and CEO, ADC Chandel, S Wurngam on the "hidden reasons." If a positive response is not received, the MSU will impose indefinite bandh in Chandel district and on Indo-Myanmar road from Pallel to Moreh from April 30, the MSU warned.
