Peeved over the closure of petrol pumps during examination season, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has said that it will sue petrol pumps which maintain undistributed stock taking undue advantage of the ongoing Kuki area public blockade.
In a press conference held at MSF office today, its president Longjam Umakanta questioned how petrol and diesel are abundantly available in black market at higher prices although fuel stations are remaining closed.
Saying that the general public is facing lots of inconvenience during this exam season as petrol is sold at more than Rs 100 per litre in black market, Umakanta drew attention of Education Minister M Okendra, who also holds the CA&FPD portfolio in this regard.
Maintaining that the State is currently having enough stock of petrol and diesel, Umakanta urged the Minister to direct the fuel stations to make available of fuel to the general public at the earliest.
The student leader further said that MSF would inspect the petrol pumps soon to check its respective stocks.
MSF would sue those petrol pumps which maintain undistributed stock, he added.
Umakanta also urged the general public not to indulge in panic buying.
