Kangpokpi, February 25 2013:
On the first day of the public blockade being imposed by Kuki State Demand Committee (KSDC) in pursuance of its demand for a Kuki homeland to be curved out of the present Manipur state, normal traffic along the National Highway 2 remained partially affected.
The road looks deserted in the morning since all passenger buses and other vehicular traffics stayed away from the road.
However, much to the confusion of the general public, traffic along the National Highway resumed as usual in the afternoon.
The reason could not be confirmed.
One reliable source informed that, in view of the forthcoming HSLC and HSSLC examination and in the interest of the student community, local passenger bus services have been relaxed from the purview of the public blockade.
But inter-state bus service, loaded trucks and other four wheelers plying through NH-2 as passengers carrier from Imphal to Dimapur will not be relaxed.
Mentioned may be made that, this morning while a media person from Kangpokpi went to fetch newspaper at Imphal, came across students from different school walking at least Kms to reach their respective schools.
