Col Ajay Chowdhry and 5 accomplices remanded to police custody for 12 days

Imphal, February 25 2013:
PRO (Defence Wing) Colonel Ajay Chowdhry and five of his accomplices who were caught at Pallel yesterday along with narcotic drugs worth around Rs 15 crores by Manipur Police Commandos while trying to smuggle out into Myanmar were produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Thoubal district A Noutuneshori at 3:30 pm today and remanded them to police custody for 12 more days.
Col Ajay Chowdhry and his five accomplices were booked Sunday evening for transporting banned drugs pseudoephedrine tablets worth Rs 15 crore to Myanmar from Imphal.
Official sources said that in connection with the incident three FIRs have been filed against them.
The FIR numbers 25, 26, 27 have been filed under Section 21/29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, which relates to punishment for financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders as well as for abetment and criminal conspiracy among others.
