Imphal, February 25 2013:
The time has come for the people to drive out Indian Army personnel, who are hell bent on destroying the youths of the State by engaging in smuggling of drugs, from the soil of Manipur, KT Rehman, President of AMUCO, has exclaimed.
Speaking during a press conference attended by leaders of various CSOs in the office of AMUCO at Kwakeithel here today, KT Rehman referred to the largest ever drug haul at Pallel yesterday in which PRO (Defence Wing) Colonel Ajay Chowdhry was found involved and said that in addition to killing of innocent people, raping of women and other atrocities committed with immunity granted under Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Indian Army has started indulging in illegal drug trade.
This shows that Indian Army personnel are hell bent on destroying Manipur and its people, more particularly the youths, completely.
He observed that considering the manner in which the State Government is trying to conceal the identity of the owner of the drug consignments seized earlier from Tulihal Airport and Mantripukhri, also indicates that the many of the high profile people in the State administration are involved in the drug trade.
Longjam Memchoubi, President of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur; S Lairentombi, Chairperson of COHR; Y Kunjarani, President of AMOWVA and other leaders of CSOs were also present during the press conference and expressed strong condemnation over the silence of the State Government in the light of increasing cases of drug seizures in Manipur.
