Lamka, February 25 2013:
The Hmar National Army has today clarified their press release which was published earlier on the ground that some papers have assumed the President's group and the Chairman's group to be one entity.
The statement said that on February 3, the HPC(D) President group open fired at Sielmat Village in Churachandpur and the following night HPC(D) Chairman group with arms entered in the house of an HNA member who was taken out of his house and fired upon but fortunately escaped unhurt.
The HNA suspected that the incidents were done by Indian Security Force and the HPC(D) Chairman group, however, the Indian security force did not know the incident, it stated further and claimed that they have now found out who is breaking the SoO ground rules.
As a result of the two night firing, the AR had conducted operation in the village and apprehended two HNA cadres along with two unregistered 9mm pistols.
Thereupon, the HNA has informed AR of the reality on Sielmat incidents and they have accordingly started operation to punish both the factions of HPC(D) whoever breaks the SoO rules.
Claiming that factional conflict within the HPC (D) for the last one year or so has inflicted untold miseries to innocent people and many lives have been lost in Hmar inhabited areas of North East India, the HNA maintained that it tried to make peace between the factions in the interest of SoO but become a sufferer instead.
Therefore, the HNA will try to prevent the shedding of innocent bloods in Manipur, Assam and Mizoram due to HPC (D) factional conflict and in doing so the HNA will back the State Security Force and Central Security Force who are going to take action against the two HPC (D) groups whichever break SoO-ground-rules, it added.
Further, the HNA said since the UPF and KNO demands can be achieved through the struggle of the people peacefully without taking up arms, the Hmar living in the Northeast India can get Indian constitutional safeguard without taking up arms but with the peaceful movement of the people.
It also said that both the HPC(D) factions had resorted to accusing each other of violating the SoO ground rules in the name of Hmar Students Association without the knowledge and authorization of the concern through internet and newspapers, and appealed on both the HPC(D) to refrain from using the NGO's name in future without their prior approval.
