Imphal, January 30 2009:
Indicted with leakage of questions of Paper I, II and IV of the third semester practical examination of MA Dance (Manipuri) conducted by Manipur University from January 7 to 14, the Deans' Committee of the varsity has decided not to assign any examination duty to Harimati Devi for four consecutive semesters along with the warning that such act of irregularity on her part in future would warrant stringent punishment.
The decision has been taken during a meeting of the Deans' Committee held at the office of the Vice Chancellor of the varsity with Prof C Amuba Singh in the chair on January 27 .
After a thorough deliberation on the report of the two-men committee instituted to enquire into the allegation of leakage of questions, the Committee concluded beyond reasonable doubt that Harimati Devi had committed an irregular act of giving pointed suggestions for the said examination, i.e.Paper I, II and IV of MA Dance (Manipur) on the eve of the examination.
The Committee, however, felt that Harimati committed the irregularity without any malafide intention of benefiting some particular students.
So taking into consideration that her action had infringed the sanctity of the examination system, the Committee resolved not to assign any examination duty to Hari-mati for four consecutive semesters and to warn her of stringent punishment if she commits such irregularity in future.
