Chhobi Mela 5 or International Photo Festival kicked off at Bangladesh National Museum at Dhaka today at 3.30 pm (Bangladesh standard time) .
A total of 33 photo journalists of the world are participating in the photo festival which was opened by noted Bengali writer Mahashweta Devi.
The festival will held at different places of the country till February 20 and will displayed photographs taken by photo journalists from different countries.
Workshops in relation with the photography will also conduct during the chhobi festival organized by Drek International for the fifth time.
A total of 63 print exhibitions from 33 countries will be displayed during the festival at 11 separate places while digital exhibition will be displayed at separate places of Dhaka from January 31 to February 5 .
The theme of this year's festival is "A long Walk to Freedom".
Lecture on photography, discussion, film and multimedia presentation will be held at Goide Institute Auditorium.
A rally of the journalists taking part in the festival was also carried out at the Bangladesh National Museum gate with festival director Sahidul Allam.
After the rally, the formal inauguration function of the festival was held at the national museum.
The participating journalists will night halt at a ship tonight.
