Lamka, April 14 2012:
The Zomi Human Rights Foundation today lodged an FIR on the alleged loss of CT Scan instrument parts from the District Hospital here that was unearthed during the visit of NEC's Planning Advisor J Lhungdim yesterday.
Crucial parts of the costly, but unutilized, instrument reportedly went missing with no signs of break-in as the only door and its key was intact, clearly indicating involvement of insiders, said a source.
The hospital authority was reportedly shocked to uncover that the monitor of the CT Scan, the endoscopy monitor, its keyboard and seven (7) dry cell batteries from the CT Scan room were missing as they prepared for the NEC advisor's inspection.
The foundation viewed the loss of public property inside the hospital premises seriously and therefore, took this initiative to lodged the FIR.
Meanwhile, expressing strong resentment on the loss of the Hospital equipment, Director (Health) Dr Surchandra urged all concerned to hand over the same at the earliest and assured that no legal action would be initiated if his appeal is reciprocated positively.
Maintaining that the equipment were procured specifically in the interest of the people, the Director also informed that operation of the machines were being carried out by hiring CT scan specialist and other personnel from JNIMS.
