CCTVs installed at Ukhrul school

In a first of its kind, close circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at an Ukhrul district school yesterday.
Installation of the electronic gadgets at KTL Excel Higher Secondary School, Phungreitang East Circular Road, was held on the occasion of the School's 15th Literary Meet and graced by SCERT Project Officer W Ratankumar Singh as the chief guest.
A website of the school was also launched on the occasion.
Speaking as the chief guest, W Ratankumar said installation of CCTV cameras is a part of the school authorities' endeavour to promote quality education.
Exuding confidence the electronic gadgets would encourage both the teachers and the taught to concentrate even more on academic activities, he said school authorities will be equipped to closely monitor all activities at the school, particularly on the punctuality and method of teaching.
Emphasising that similar gadgets need to be installed at other educational institutions, the chief guest said such an equipment will also ensure regular attendance and attention by the students.
The School Principal Yarmi Kashung in his address opined that installation of CCTV cameras will promote conducive academic environment in the institution for it will develop a healthy relationship between the teachers and students.
Among others, the multiple events were graced by the presence of Board of Secondary Education Manipur's Under Secretary Ch Nabachandra, National Teacher Awardee Th Uttam Singh and Suchitra Book Store proprietor Th Bimal Singh.
During the Literary Meet that ended today, students took part in essay writing, painting, spelling Bee, Blind drawing, JAM, Bible quiz, Alphabetical Race, extempore speech, vocabulary race, picture arrangement, declamation, IQ test, journalism, singing, debate, poetry, photo exhibition and the various other competitions.
