Timber/document racket busted in CCpur

Churachandpur district police today busted a racket that issues fake permits to transport timber from the interiors with forged seal and signature and recovered a huge cache of rubber seals used in counterfeiting the documents.
Following a tip-off from the district administration that a group of people have sold forged permits that were supposedly issued by the Deputy Commissioner to transport timber, police swung into action and immediately apprehended two suspects last night, sources said.
Police have identified the arrested duo as Tonglianlal alias Lalneu 28, son of Somkhai of Hmuia Veng and Hauginlian Vaiphei 58 son of (late) Lunkham of Bethel Veng, New Lamka.
An FIR under section 468/420/4732/34 of the IPC has been registered against the duo.
One fake permit in the market reportedly fetches about Rs.3000 each, according to a source in the police.

Rubber seals recovered from the arrested duo include that of the Sub Register, Birth & Death, Dist Hospital; the Chief Executive Officer/CCpur; Sub Dy Collector/CCpur; Additional Dist Magistrate; Dist Transport Officer/CCpur; Deputy Commissioner/CCpur; EE electricity/CCpur; Sr Medical Officer, Dist Hospital/CCpur; Medical Suptt Dist Hospital/CCpur; President PTC New Lamka Bethel Unit; and Headmasters/Principals of different Colleges and Schools.
The CJM have remanded the arrested persons in police custody till April 20, while the police have continued to further investigate the case.
