Women's body to bring sex workers to mainstream life

Ningol Yaipha Lamjing Apunba Kangleipak has announced to initiate steps including counselling to commercial sex workers in Khwairamband Keithel in order to help them return to normal life and come out from their isolation.
Talking to media persons at its office today, president of NYLAK, Thingujam (O) Subhasini said the association is well aware that more commercial sex workers have been roped in to entice customers particularly in Khwairamban Keithel area.
She said it is a matter of concern that the presence of many sex workers in and around Khwairamband Keithel shows innocent shoppers and women in a poor light.
Saying that they become the breeding ground and transit point for many sexually transmitted diseases, Subhasini also pointed out that they must be inspired to shun their profession.
She said her organisation, with due respect to their profession, would first find out the reason for professing such activities.
With assistance from concerned Government departments, they would be encourage to take other means for earning so that they can live an open lives.
