Committee plans Irabot memorial site

Sharing plans for development of a Lamyanba Irabot Memorial complex at Keibi Mana Ching (hill-lock), Lamyanba Irabot Ningsing Thouram Observation Committee, Manipur said it will need material as well as financial support from the masses to materialise the goal.
speaking at Manipur Press Club today, Committee convenor L Sanajaoba stated that Keibi Mana Ching was one of the hideouts of Lamyanba Irabot who went underground to sustain resistance movement against the British regime.
Pointing out that irabot's campaign was not confined to ousting the british force but to safeguard rights of the peasants and upliftment of their socio-economic status, Sanajaoba expressed that the memorial complex is being planned to transform the hillock into one of the tourist spots of Manipur.
Confiding that intimations to the state's Tourism Department for development of Mana Ching as a tourism spot is yet to evoke any positive response, he said in case the State masses contribute their mite the memorial complex will be a befitting tribute to the revered public leader.
As a part of the 10-day long observance of Irabot's birth as well as death anniversary in between September 21 to 30, the Committee organised various events including seminars, social services and plantation of trees at THAU Ground (Thangmeiband), Nambol, Thoubal, Kuki Inn (Imphal), Awang Sekmai, Nongmaiching (Baruni hills) and Khurai, he added.
