Irabot monument to come up at Keibi Manaching

The Lamyanba Irabot Ningshng Thouram Observation Committee is all set to construct a monument in memory of Hijam Irabot, equipped with a museum and a library at Keibi Manaching.
Announcing this during a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, Laishram Shyamkumar, Convener of Lamyanba Irabot Ningshng Thouram Observation Committee, said that since Keibi Manaching is an important place in the Lampak area (Code-name used among the armed revolutionary groups) of Keibi, where Hijam Irabot first started his revolutionary movement after he was declared wanted by the then government.
So, the Committee has decided to construct a monument in the memory of Hijam Irabot there.
Shyamkumar further informed that a documentary film on the life and works of Hijam Irabot would also be made with various inputs from associates of Hijam Irabot who are still alive.
The main objective for the construction of the monument and the production of documentary film is to bring all the farmers, who constitute 80% of the whole population of the state, together for a welfare society, Shyamkumar explained.
Contending that it is not possible to bring change in the society without struggle and movement, Shyamkumar suggested that the present generation should follow the footsteps of Irabot by remembering him.
He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and participated in the 10-day long Irabot celebration held from September 21 to 30 .
President of Irabot Memorial Trust Keibi Mana Ching N Rashi Meetei was also present during the press conference.
