'Festival' drugs seized

Imphal, October 11 2012:
Sleuths of Narcotics and Affairs of Border (NAB) led by Inspector RK Bikramjit Singh recovered about 60,000 capsules of spasmo proxyvon from a youth, who arrived here yesterday morning in an Air India flight from New Delhi.
Acting on specific information, the NAB team under the supervision of SP (NAB) Md Isaac Shah, reportedly rushed to Tulihal Airport at around 11.50 am and spotted a Muslim youth moving in a suspicious manner.
The said individual who arrived from the national capital was detained and upon checking as many as 30,000 capsules of the restricted psychotropic drugs were found concealed in each of the two luggages belonging to the individual later identified as MK HR Raj (21) s/o MK Islouddin of Lilong Haoreibi Sambrukhong Mamei Leikai, in Thoubal district.
The NAB put the estimated cost of the drugs in the black market at about Rs 3.5 lakh.

It is said that the SP capsules were bought from different pharmaceutical outlets of New Delhi and destined for sale in the markets of Manipur.
Expressing that the drugs might have been brought in ahead of the festivals like Diwali, Durga Pujah, Ningol chakkouba, etc during which the drugs command high price, Inspector Bikramjit appealed to the general public not to indulge in such illegal trafficking.
He also urged the people to convey information of any such instances of selling/buying to enable the NAB curb the menace of drug abuse in the State.
Asserting that such raid will continue, the NAB Officer in-charge also sought the cooperation of all concerned in effective crackdown by law enforcing agencies against drug traders as well as abusers.
